Borsa Istanbul stocks up at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.67 pct, while Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.67 percent or 689.29 points to open at 103,874.99 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 0.67 percent to close the day at 103.185,70 points with a daily trading volume of 6.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.3180 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 5.3260 at last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 6.0380, versus 6.0460 at the last close.

One British pound traded for 6.9690 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.9370 at market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil was around $67.10 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday.
