Brazil's unemployment rate drops to 8.1% in September-November 2022 period
Number of employed workers climbs to record 99.7 million

ANKARA (AA) - Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 8.1% during the September-November 2022 period, according to data released on Thursday by the Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
It marked the lowest since the quarter ending in April 2015, IBGE said in a statement.
While the unemployment rate was in line with expectations, it saw a decline of 0.8 percentage point from 8.9% in the preceding three-month period from June to August 2022.
The unemployment rate saw a decline of 3.5 percentage points, compared to the same period in 2021 when it stood at 11.6%.
The unemployed population stood at 8.7 million, falling 9.8%, or 953,000, from the previous quarter. It fell 29.5%, or 3.7 million, from the same period last year.
The number of employed people climbed to 99.7 million – a record in the series since it started in 2012, said IBGE.
The number of employed people is an increase of 0.7%, or 680,000, from the previous quarter. It is also a gain of 5%, or 4.8 million, compared to the same period in 2021.
