ANKARA (AA) - The eurozone retail trade volume decreased 6.1% on a monthly basis in November 2020, the EU's statistical office announced on Thursday.

The figure was also down 5% in the EU27 last November, compared to a month earlier, Eurostat said.

The eurozone/euro area or EA19 represents member states that use the single currency -- euro -- while the EU27 includes all member countries of the bloc.

The volume of retail trade slipped by 10.6% for automotive fuels, 8.9% for non-food products and 1.7% for food, drinks and tobacco.

Among member states for which data are available, the largest decreases in the total retail trade volume were registered in France (‑18.0%), Belgium (‑15.9%) and Austria (‑9.9%), Eurostat said.

The Netherlands, Croatia and Germany posted the highest monthly rise in retail trade volume with 2.6%, 2.5% and 1.9%, respectively.

"In November 2020 compared with November 2019, the calendar adjusted volume of retail trade decreased by 2.9% in the euro area and by 2.0% in the EU," it said.
