NEW YORK (AA) - An economic and trade summit was organized by ASKON USA, the US branch of the Anatolian Lions Businessmen Association (ASKON), to contribute to the development of Turkish-American trade relations.
New York Mayor Eric Adams, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh, Prospect Park Mayor Mohammed Khairullah, Turkey's Consul General in New York Reyhan Özgür, ASKON President Orhan Aydın, ASKON USA President Ayhan Özmekik and Turkish and US business people attended the 1st Trend&Trade Turkey-America Economic and Trade Summit held at the Turkish House.
In his speech here, Orhan Aydın stated that he believes that the event will be beneficial for Turkey and the US, and said that economy and trade is an important element in the cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking about the trade volume of Turkey and the US, Aydın said, "Our goal is to improve our mutual trade and reach the trade volume of 100 billion dollars stated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan."
Emphasizing that Turkey and the US have an opportunity for cooperation in almost every field, Aydın said that they would like to establish an "export base" in the US to offer products from Turkey to the North and South American markets.
Pointing to Turkey's proximity to Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Aydın invited US entrepreneurs to invest in Turkey.

ASKON USA President Özmekik reminded that they were established a short time ago and said, "We have become the largest Turkish-American non-governmental organization in the USA by reaching more than 200 members."
Explaining that they will keep the Turkish community in the US together and more dynamic, Özmekik said that they will also play a role in the development of US-Turkey relations.
Özmekik underlined that they will lead Turkish products to take place in the US market and said, "I hope that the important connections and cooperation opportunities to be established here today will contribute greatly to the process of achieving the goals set, and I hope that our culture of doing business together will increase."
Mayors Adams, Sayegh and Khairullah also made speeches at the event.
