European stock markets close lower except Italy

ANKARA (AA) - European stock markets closed lower on Monday except for Italy's FTSE MIB.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was down 1.55 points, or 0.4%, to close the first trading day of the week at 390.12.

The UK’s FTSE 100 fell 31 points, or 0.45%, to finish the session at 6,959. Germany’s DAX 30 lost only 0.06 points to close flat at 12,272.

France’s CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day by plummeting 26 points, or 0.46%, to 5,840 at the closing bell.

Spain’s IBEX 35 declined 23 points, or 0.31%, to close at 7,413.

Italy’s FTSE MIB, on the other hand, rose 11 points, or 0.05%, to 20,912.
