European stock markets close lower on Monday

France's CAC 40 performs worst, plummeting 2.01%

ANKARA (AA) - European stock markets closed lower on Monday.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, declined 8.20 points, or 1.81%, to finish at 445.11 points.

London's FTSE 100 decreased 141 points, or 1.88%, to 7,380, while Germany's DAX 30 lost 217 points, or 1.54%, to end the day at 13,924.

France's CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day, plummeting 132 points, or 2.01%, to close at 6,449.

Italy's FTSE MIB decreased 371 points, or 1.53%, to 23,908.

Spain's IBEX 35 lost 77 points, or 0.9%, to end the day at 8,574.
