European stock markets close lower on Wednesday

France's CAC 40 performs worst, plummeting 2.21%

ANKARA (AA) – European stock markets closed lower on Wednesday.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, declined 7.1 points, or 1.53%, to finish at 455.97 points.

London's FTSE 100 decreased 26 points, or 0.34%, to 7,587, while Germany's DAX 30 lost 272 points, or 1.89%, to end the day at 14,151.

France's CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day, plummeting 146 points, or 2.21%, to 6,498.

Italy's FTSE MIB fell 513 points, or 2.06%, to close at 24,447.

Spain's IBEX 35 lost 141 points, or 1.64%, to end the day at 8,482.
