European stocks close lower, exchanges fall 1.3% each

Spain's IBEX 35 performs worst, plummeting 1.83%

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stocks closed lower on Wednesday as exchanges lost around 1.3% apiece.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European markets in 17 countries, fell 6.32 points, or 1.35%, to finish at 460.84.

The UK's FTSE 100 lost 104 points, or 1.36%, to end the session at 7,561. Germany's DAX also shed 220 points, or 1.36%, to 16,020.

France's CAC 40, meanwhile, lost 93 points, or 1.26%, to close at 7,312. Italy's FTSE MIB dropped 381 points, or 1.3%, to 28,974.

Spain's IBEX 35 was the worst performer of the day, plummeting 174 points, or 1.83%, to end the day at 9,328.
