European stocks close with major losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stock exchanges closed with major losses on Wednesday.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 0.58 points, or 0.11%, to finish at 504.31.

The UK's FTSE 100 index decreased 22 points, or 0.28%, to end the day at 8,121.

Germany's DAX 30 lost 186 points, or 1.03%, to 17,932, while France's CAC 40 fell 80 points, or 0.99%, to 7,984.

Italy's FTSE MIB declined 549 points, or 1.6%, to 33,746.

Spain's IBEX 35 was the worst performer of the day, plummeting 246 points, or 2.22%, to close at 10,854.
