European stocks end sharply lower

ISTANBUL (AA) – European stock markets plummeted Wednesday to close with steep losses.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 13.11 points, or 2.92%, to finish at 436.45.

The UK's FTSE 100 slid 292 points, or 3.83%, to end the session at 7,344.

Germany's DAX 30 lost 497 points, or 3.27%, to close at 14,735. France's CAC 40 meanwhile fell 255 points, or 3.58%, to finish at 6,885.

Italy's FTSE MIB was the worst performer of the day, falling 1,235 points, or 4.61%, to 25,565.

Spain's IBEX 35 decreased 399 points, or 4.37%, to 8,759.
