European stocks finish week with major gains

Italy's FTSE MIB performs best, soaring 678 points, or 2.54%

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stock exchanges closed higher Friday to finish the week with major gains.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, rose 4.97 points, or 1.08%, to finish the day at 465.31.

The UK's FTSE 100 added 75 points, or 0.98%, to end the session at 7,778.

Germany's DAX 30 also increased 226 points, or 1.44%, to 15,961.

France's CAC 40, meanwhile, posted a gain of 92 points, or 1.26%, to close at 7,432.

Italy's FTSE MIB was the best performer of the day, soaring 678 points, or 2.54%, to 27,348.

Spain's IBEX 35 rose 103 points, or 1.15%, to end the day at 9,147.
