Global crude steel production rises 2.9% in March, driven by China's output
Quarterly output slightly down despite monthly rebound, Worldsteel reports

ISTANBUL (AA) - Global crude steel production hit 166.1 million tons in March, up 2.9% compared to the same period last year, as production in China increased 4.6%, the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) announced Wednesday.
China's production was at 92.8 million tons and Japan's output expanded by 0.2% to 7.2 million tons.
In the same period, Germany's production fell 11.7% to 3.1 million tons, while US production fell 1.5% to 6.7 million tons.
Worldsteel’s data showed Türkiye's crude steel production decreased by 2.8% in March compared to the same period last year, to 3.1 million tons.
Brazil increased its production by 6.6% to 2.9 million tons and India's production increased 7% to 13.8 million.
Production in Russia increased 3.2% to 6.2 million tons.
In the January-March period, global crude steel production fell 0.4% to 468.6 million tons on a yearly basis.
