House sales down in Türkiye last month

ISTANBUL (AA) - A total of 117,806 houses were sold in Türkiye last month, a 34.1% decrease versus November 2021, official figures showed on Thursday.

According to TurkStat data, Istanbul had the lion's share of overall house sales with 16.7%, followed by the capital Ankara and the Mediterranean resort city Antalya.

Over the month, the share of mortgaged house sales was at 14.1%, decreased by 57.7% on a yearly basis.

A total of 37,380 houses were sold for the first time, while second-hand house sales totaled 80,426 units in November.

Last month, 6,083 houses were sold to foreigners.

In the January-November period, 1.28 million houses were sold, up 1% on an annual basis.

In the first 11 months of the year, foreigners bought 61,104 houses in the country.
