Major Italian supermarket chain decides to withdraw Israeli products from shelves in solidarity with Gaza

We cannot remain indifferent to what is going in Gaza, says Coop Alleanza 3.0

ATHENS (AA) – A major Italian supermarket chain announced on Wednesday that it had decided to withdraw Israeli products from its shelves in solidarity with the embattled Gaza Strip.

“Our position on what is happening in Middle East was already established,” said the Coop Alleanza 3.0 in a statement, telling how they called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and condemned the Israeli blockade on the besieged Palestinian enclave, which has prevented the entry of much-needed humanitarian aid.

Underlining the further escalations by Israel in recent weeks, the coop said: “We cannot remain indifferent to what is going in Gaza.”

It said it had decided to remove from its shelves some peanut and tahini products, produced in Israel, and SodaStream brand items.

The chain also announced that it will start selling Gaza Cola, which it called a 100% Palestinian-owned product, to help rebuild a hospital in besieged Gaza.
