Mexico's unemployment rate falls to 2.7% in February
97.3% of people employed among economically active population, according to National Institute of Statistics and Geography

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's unemployment rate decreased to 2.7% in February, according to data from the country’s statistical institute Friday.

The rate is lower than the market estimate of 3.1% while it is a decline from 3% in January.

The economically active population was 60 million people in February, which was 1.7 million more than the same month of the previous year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) figures.

In February, a total of 58.3 million people, or 97.3%, were employed among the economically active population. This was 2.3 million more compared to the same month in 2022.

The unemployed population was 1.6 million people in February, the figures showed.

In February, at a monthly rate and with seasonally adjusted figures, the unemployment rate decreased 0.1% to 2.8%, according to INEGI.
