ISTANBUL (AA) - Developed by a Turkish medical company, the Inca Trellis Thrombolysis System offers an opportunity to perform "pharmacomechanical treatment" in a wide range of vessels with its special three-dimensional design, the firm has said.

In a statement on Monday, INVAMED -- New-York-based manufacturer of pharmaceutical products – said deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein.

Even if no symptoms are observed, particularly in the first stages of the disease, conditions such as pain, swelling, tenderness, color change, and wounds -- called venous ulcer -- may occur in the legs.

Pulmonary thromboembolism is a potentially life-threatening complication associated with DVT.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot gets stuck in an artery in the lung, blocking blood flow to part of the lung.

To prevent this complication, some procedures are applied to DVT patients, such as administering blood thinners (anticoagulants) and busting the clot.

In recent years, very successful results have been obtained with minimally invasive interventional techniques that allow surgeons to break up the clot by penetrating the blocked vein through a method called "pharmacomechanical thrombolysis."

The IncaTrellis Thrombolysis System, developed in INVAMED R&D laboratories, allows physicians to treat more than one targeted segment in the same vessel as well as multiple vessels belonging to the same patient with its repositionable structure that can be applied during the procedure.

The Inca Trellis Thrombolysis System and Thrombolysis Catheter, with over 95% clinical success, provide high frequency and low energy ultrasound waves to the lesion through its piezoelectric crystals.
