Russia, South Africa reaffirm commitment to strengthen ties
Foreign ministers stress deepening trade, scientific and BRICS cooperation during Moscow meeting

ISTANBUL (AA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Wednesday in Moscow with South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola, who is visiting Russia to co-chair the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (IGC).
During the meeting, the two officials discussed steps to further deepen traditionally friendly Russia-South Africa relations, with a particular focus on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy and science and technology, according to Russia’s Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov and Lamola also reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating positions within BRICS, the G20, the UN and other multilateral platforms to find effective solutions to global and regional challenges.
Both sides highlighted the importance of adhering to international law and the principles of the UN Charter in addressing global issues.
