Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at opening session

BIST 100 index falls by 0.35 points; US dollar/Turkish lira rate stands below 3.73

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark index started the day with a 314.74-point decrease to open at 88,364.30 points on Friday.

On the last transaction day of the week, the BIST 100 index dropped 0.35 percent.

The banking and holding sector indexes were down 0.40 percent and 0.46 percent, respectively.

All sector indices started Friday with losses, with the construction sector index the worst performer with a 0.72 percent decline.

In Thursday's closing session, the benchmark index slightly decreased 358.41 points or 0.40 percent to 88,679.04 with a total trading volume of 3.1 billion Turkish liras (approximately $83 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.7270 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.7090 at Thursday's close.
