Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at opening

BIST 100 index drops 0.02 pct while US dollar/Turkish lira rate stands over 3.48

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, declined 23.98 points or 0.02 percent to open at 106,510.62 points on Tuesday.

The banking and holding sector indices were down 0.04 and 0.12 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the insurance sector index was the best performer, increasing by 0.49 percent, while the leasing factoring sector index started the day with the biggest fall, losing 0.42 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.4860 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared to 3.4660 at Monday’s close.

The BIST 100 was up 1,207.10 points or 1.12 percent to reach 106,534.60 points at close on Monday, with a total trading volume of 4.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.37 billion).
