Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 1.25 pct at close

BIST 100 index gains nearly 1,300 points versus last week's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 1.25 percent to close at 104,594.66 points on Monday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the week at 103,785.14 points, gaining 1,290.61 points from the last week's close of 103,304.05 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.4620 at close, versus Friday's close of 5.4690.

The euro/lira rate also stood at 6.2010 at Monday's close, versus 6.2070 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.2470 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.2690 at close on Friday.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold reached $1,306.60 by market close, up from 1,304.50 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $67.50 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Monday.
