ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish modular building manufacturer Karmod is constructing a container dormitory facility to house factory workers in the country's Gonen district of Balikesir province, the company announced Wednesday.
The dormitory, currently under installation near a polyester yarn production plant, will accommodate 168 workers once completed, Karmod said.
“The container dormitory building, located close to the factory, will meet the accommodation needs of 168 employees in a secure and comfortable environment,” said Ozay Kemal Karakucuk, Karmod’s container sales manager.
Karakucuk emphasized that the ergonomic, long-lasting container units offer an effective solution to worker housing problems faced by industrial facilities, especially amid rising housing rental costs.
“With our high-comfort dormitory buildings, we provide factory employees with the convenience of home. Our durable and safe container model not only solves the housing issue but also offers industrial investors multiple advantages,” he said.
Highlighting the speed and efficiency of the modular construction process, Karakucuk added that the 1,200-square-meter two-story building was produced in just two days at the company’s facility and is now being assembled on-site.
“We aim to complete the installation in Gonen within 12 days,” he said.
The dormitory will feature 42 individual rooms—21 on each floor—as well as shared amenities including seven shower and toilet units per floor and laundry rooms.
Once operational, the dormitory will serve workers at what is set to become Europe’s largest polyester yarn production facility.
