ISTANBUL (AA) - A Turkish firm has developed a device for the treatment of skull fractures with the Stella Cranial Covering System.
INVAMED Medical Device Technologies said fractures that occur in one or more of the bones in the skull surrounding the brain tissue are called skull fractures. In order for these bones to break, it would take a very heavy blow to the skull. Traffic accidents, beatings, heavy sports and falling can be shown as some of the causes of these fractures.
Several forms of skull fractures, such as compression fractures, open fractures, linear fractures, and skull base fractures, can be noticed depending on how the bone is shattered. Certain fractures can be dangerous to one's health. Following such fractures, brain injury, cerebral bleeding, epileptic convulsions, and infection might occur.
Skull fractures can cause symptoms such as pain, swelling, bleeding, vomiting, confused consciousness, nosebleeds, numbness on the face, bruising beneath the eyes or behind the ears, clear water coming from the nose (cerebrospinal fluid), and dizziness.
In cases of skull trauma, it is critical to seek prompt medical assistance. Although surgical intervention is not normally required when linear fractures occur, it becomes necessary in many individuals with skull fractures. The primary goal of treatment is to alleviate pain, promote healing, and avoid complications. Apart from the underlying trauma, several of the consequences appear to be the result of surgery.
