Turkish stock exchange closes lower to end 7-day winning streak

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index closed at 5,404.43 points on Monday, ending its seven-day winning streak.

Starting the day at 5,514 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 85.91 points, or 1.56%, from Friday's close of 5,490.34 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 5,351.61, while its daily high was 5,568.97.

The daily trading volume was 116 billion Turkish liras ($6.16 billion).

During the day, 28 stocks on the index rose and 72 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,923.95, while Brent crude oil sold at around $88.84 per barrel as of 6.55 p.m. local time (1555GMT).
