Benchmark index gains 1.07% to hit fresh record closing high

Türkiye's benchmark stock index closed the week at 9,045.97, hitting a fresh record closing high on Friday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 rose 1.07%, or 96.18 points from Thursday's close of 8,949.79.

On a weekly basis, the benchmark index gained 4.39% as of Friday's close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 7.7 trillion liras ($251.3 billion) at the market close, with a daily trading volume of 120 billion liras ($3.92 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,038.35, while Brent crude oil sold for around $82.00 per barrel as of 6.21 p.m. local time (1521GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 30.6841, the euro/lira exchange rate was at 33.1183, and the British pound traded at 38.7532 liras.
