Turkish stock exchange down at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index drops some 40 points at Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 9,334.13 points, down 0.43% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the week at 9,411.11 points, lost 40.07 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 9,319.11, while its daily high was 9,450.48.

Some 44 indices increased in value, while 53 declined at the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 133 billion Turkish liras ($4.28 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.98 trillion liras ($257.7 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.1180 as of 6.45 p.m. (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 33.7960, while the GBP/TRY traded at 39.4550.

One ounce of gold was at $2,037.05, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $81.30.
