Benchmark BIST 100 index drops over 100 points on Monday

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 9,845.85 points, falling by 1.06% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the week at 9,962.07, lost 105.8 points from the close on Friday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,830.73, while the daily high was 9,983.21.

During the day, 72 indexes lost in value while 27 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 84.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.35 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.6 trillion liras ($240.6 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 35.9970 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.1690, and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.5740.

The price of gold was $2,908.60 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $75.18.
