Turkish stock exchange down at midweek opening

ANKARA (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 10,060.48 points, dipping 6.87%, or 741.75 points, from the previous close.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.55% to close at 10,802.23 points, with a daily transaction volume of 120 billion Turkish liras ($3.27 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 36.8226 as of 9.52 a.m. (0652GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 40.1818, and the GBP/TRY traded at 47.7970.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,049.31 while the price of Brent crude oil was roughly $70.05 per barrel.
