Turkish stock exchange ends Wednesday with losses

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 115.08 points at Wednesday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,398.93 points, down 1.21% or 115.08 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9.494.13, losing 19.87 points from the close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 9,398.93, while the daily high was 9,530.13.

During the day, 77 indexes lost in value while 19 closed with gains.

The daily transaction volume reached 82.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.13 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.58 trillion liras ($221.4 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.8090 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 44.0445, and the British pound traded at 52.2245.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,313.70, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.70.
