Turkish stock exchange opens Friday in positive

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8,901.86 points, up 0.21% or 18.34 points versus the previous close.

At Thursday's close, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.3% to 8,883.52 points with a daily transaction volume of 79 billion Turkish liras ($2.47 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 32.2110 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.0900, while the GBP/TRY rate was 41.0280.

One ounce of gold was sold for $2,169.20, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $85.70.
