Turkish stock exchange opens week on high note

Türkiye's benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, opened Monday at 10,869.00 points, up 0.26% or 28.41 points from the previous close.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index wrapped up the week with a 1.05% increase, closing at 10,840.59 points and recording a daily trading volume of 121.1 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion).

As of 9.53 am local time (0653GMT), the US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate stood at 36.6902, the EUR/TRY rate was 39.9268, and the GBP/TRY rate was 47.4414.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,996.69, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $71.06.
