Turkish stock exchange up 2.5% at midweek's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,916.22 points, up 2.52% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the third transaction day of the week at 9,846.39, gained 243.46 points from Tuesday's close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,832.73, while the daily high was 9,934.90.

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 35.1950 as of 6.45 pm local time (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.6470, and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.1210.

The price of gold was $2,617.30 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $73.15.
