Turkish stock exchange up at weekly close

Benchmark BIST 100 index up around 170 points at Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,693.46 points, up 1.77% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index had started the day at 9,431.16 points, earning 168.87 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,420.90, while its daily high was 9,714.77.

Some 80 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 20 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 109 billion Turkish liras ($3.36 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.29 trillion liras ($255.4 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.5880 as of 18.40 p.m. (1540GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.8440, while the GBP/TRY traded at 40.4530.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,391.20, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $87.50.
