Turkish stocks down at Thursday's open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 5,037.42 points, down by 0.47%, or 23.8 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Wednesday at 5,061.22 points, up 0.85%, with a daily trading volume of 48 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.4050 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.2565 while a British pound traded for 24.1275 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $82 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,009.10.
