Turkish stocks up nearly 10% at close of session
BIST 100 index gains 450 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended at 4,950.47 points Wednesday, increasing 9.88% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 4,769.15 points, the Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 445.13 points versus the previous close, after a five-day closure due to the Feb. 6 earthquakes that hit southern Türkiye.
On Feb. 7, the BIST 100 index posted a sharp decline of 8.62% to close at 4,505.34.
As the stock exchange operator canceled trading on Feb. 8, BIST 100 index had lost 16% since its Friday close before the quakes.
During the first transaction day of the week, some large companies made share buyback announcements.
The index's lowest value on the first transaction day was 4,769.15, while its daily high was 4,951.04.
The total market value of BIST 100 was around 3.98 trillion Turkish liras ($211.45 billion) by the close, with a daily trading volume of 33 billion Turkish liras ($1.76 billion).
All of the 100 stocks on the index rose during the session.
An ounce of gold was $1,844.
Brent crude oil sold at around $84.51 per barrel as of 6.58 p.m. local time.
