Türkiye's BIST 100 index closes above 13,000 level for 1st time

Benchmark index increases by 184.61 points at close to hit 13,177.32 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index closed above the 13,000 threshold for the first time on Monday, rising 1.42% to reach 13,177.32 points at close.

After starting the week at 12,929.33 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 184.61 points from Friday's close.

The lowest value of the index was 12,886.22, while the daily high was 13,182.05.

The market value of the BIST 100 was around 13.02 trillion Turkish liras ($301.3 billion), with a trading volume of 192.4 billion liras ($4.43 billion).

Some 74 stocks on the index rose, and 23 dropped, compared to the previous close.

Gold was $5,089.95 per ounce, while Brent crude oil sold for $64.95 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 43.3705, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 51.5420, and the British pound traded for 59.4375 liras.
