Türkiye's BIST 100 index closes Thursday in the red

Benchmark index loses 39.05 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,484.26 points, down 0.41% from its previous close.

After starting the day at 9,530.67, the BIST 100 fell 39.05 points from Wednesday's close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,484.26, while the daily high was 9,627.70.

On Thursday, 52 indexes lost in value, while 48 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 88.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.34 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.6 trillion liras ($229.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 37.9515 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 42.1245, and the GBP/TRY traded at 49.8255.

The price of gold was $3,108.90 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $69.65.
