Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends midweek with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 10,591.98 points, down 0.23% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 10,645.12, the BIST 100 index fell 24.11 points from its close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 10,571.73, while the daily high was 10,673.13.

During the day, 36 indexes gained in value while 59 closed with losses.

The daily transaction volume reached 99.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.47 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.79 trillion liras ($242.75 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 40.4550 as of 6.25 pm local time (1525GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 47.5235, and the British pound traded at 54.9570.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,413.50, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $67.65.
