Türkiye's budget deficit narrows to $4.5B in April
Central government budget revenues hit $25.1B, while expenditures totaled $29.6B, according to Treasury and Finance Ministry data

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's central government budget posted a 174.7 billion Turkish liras (approximately $4.58 billion) deficit in April, according to official data released on Thursday.
The figure narrowed from a 261.4 billion liras (about $7 billion) deficit in March, a report from Türkiye's Treasury and Finance Ministry showed.
The deficit fell by 1.8% in April compared to the same month of the previous year.
Budget revenues hit 957.4 billion liras ($25.1 billion), while expenditures totaled 1.13 trillion liras ($29.6 billion).
Non-interest expenditures reached 871.4 billion liras ($22.85 billion), while interest payments were 260.66 billion liras ($6.83 billion).
According to the report, tax revenues for April totaled 787.4 billion liras ($20.65 billion).

In the first four months of 2025, the budget deficit was 885.5 billion liras ($24.1 billion), up 28.1% year-on-year.
During this period, budget revenues reached 3.36 trillion liras ($91.5 billion), while expenditures totaled 4.25 trillion liras ($115.6 billion).
The US dollar traded at an average of 38.13 liras in April and 36.72 liras from January to April.
