UK economy grows 0.5% monthly in February, beating expectations

On annual basis, British GDP up 1.4% in February

ISTANBUL (AA) - The British economy grew 0.5% in February, above estimates, according to data released on Friday.

The growth easily beat market forecasts of 0.1% growth.

The latest figure followed an upwardly revised no change in the gross domestic product (GDP) in January, data from the Office for National Statistics showed.

"All three main sectors grew in February 2025: services output increased by 0.3% and was the largest contributor to the monthly growth in GDP, production output rose by 1.5%, and construction output increased by 0.4%," it said.

"Real GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.6% in the three months to February 2025, compared with the three months to November 2024, mainly because of growth of 0.6% in the services sector," it noted.

On an annual basis, GDP in the UK grew 1.4% in February, also above estimates of 0.9%
