UK unemployment up to 4.4%, slightly above estimates

ISTANBUL (AA) - The UK's unemployment rate between September and November 2024 came in at 4.4%, slightly up compared to the previous three-month period, over the market forecast of 4.3%, the Office for National Statistics said on Tuesday.

The total number of people who are unemployed in the country was 1.76 million in November.

The employment rate for people aged 16-64 came in at 74.8% in the three months ending in November.

The number of payrolled employees rose by 134,000 at an annualized pace to 30.5 million in November.

Annual growth in wages excluding bonuses accelerated to 5.6% year-on-year over the three months to November 2024, from 5.2% in the previous period.
