UK's annual inflation eases in June

ISTANBUL (AA) – The annual inflation rate in the UK was at 7.9% in June, easing from 8.7% in May, official figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Wednesday.

On a monthly basis, the consumer prices index was up by 0.1%, the ONS data revealed.

Decreasing motor fuel prices had the largest impact on easing the inflation rate in June, the office said.

It noted: "Core CPI (excluding energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco) rose by 6.9% in the 12 months to June 2023, down from 7.1% in May."
