US annual inflation hits 8.3% in April

ISTANBUL (AA) – The US annual inflation rate hit 8.3% in April, official figures showed on Wednesday.

According to fresh figures, energy prices increased 30.3% year-on-year in April, while food prices rose 9.4%.

Last month, the annual inflation rate was 8.5%, the largest 12-month rise since December 1981.

The consumer price index was also up 0.3% month-on-month in April, after increasing 1.2% in March.
