US consumer inflation figures revised

Consumer price index revised down to gain of 0.2% in December, from 0.3%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Consumer inflation figures in the US were revised, according to the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.

The consumer price index (CPI), which measures changes in the prices of goods and services from a consumer's perspective, was revised down to a gain of 0.2% in December, from the previously announced increase of 0.3% reported on Jan. 11.

The monthly CPI for November, on the other hand, was revised up to a rise of 0.2%, from an increase of 0.1%.

Core CPI figures, which exclude volatile food and energy prices, were left unchanged at a monthly gain of 0.3% both in December and November.

CPI figures for January will be released next Tuesday at 8.30 a.m. EDT.
