US midfielder Giovanni Reyna joins England's Nottingham Forest on loan

21-year-old leaves Borussia Dortmund to play for Nottingham Forest for remainder of season

English Premier League club Nottingham Forest signed US midfielder Giovanni Reyna on Wednesday from Germany's Borussia Dortmund on loan.

"Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Gio Reyna from Borussia Dortmund.

"The 21-year-old has joined the club on a loan deal until the end of the season," Nottingham Forest's statement said.

Reyna amassed 121 appearances to score 17 goals for Borussia Dortmund. He produced 16 assists as well.

The US international helped Borussia Dortmund win a German Cup.

Nottingham Forest cannot make the loan deal permanent. Reyna has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2026 before his temporary move to Nottingham Forest.

Reyna is the son of former US midfielder Claudio Reyna, who played for Scotland's Rangers, England's Manchester City and Sunderland and German clubs Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen as well as the New York Red Bulls.
