US stock exchanges higher Friday as rally continues

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks were higher after opening on Friday as exchanges' rally continues.

The Dow Jones was up 166 points, or 0.49%, to 34,560 at 10.13 a.m. EDT (1413GMT). The S&P 500 added 13 points, or 0.33%, to 4,523.

The Nasdaq increased 76 points, or 0.55%, to 14,216.

Both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq posted Thursday their highest closing this year so far.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.1% to 13.62. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, added 1% to 3.797%.

The dollar index increased 0.2% to 99.95, while the euro was unchanged at $1.1227 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.4% to $1,952 per ounce and silver falling 0.2% to $24.82.

Oil prices were down around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $80.56 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $76.06.
