US stock market opens higher

Indexes climb back from worst daily decline since Aug. 17

NEW YORK (AA) - The U.S. stock market opened higher Wednesday, bouncing back from its worst daily loss in three weeks.

The three major indexes in Wall Street posted Tuesday their worst selloff since Aug. 17, losing around 1 percent each before climbing back at Wednesday opening.

The Dow Jones added 58 points to open the day at 21,811. The S&P 500 was up 6 points to 2,463.

The Nasdaq increased 16 points to start trading at 6,391.

The U.S.' trade deficit in July rose 0.4 percent, from the previous month, to $43.7 billion, according to the Department of Commerce earlier Wednesday.

The market expectation for the July trade deficit was $44.7 billion.
