US stocks finish mixed; Nasdaq falls for 3rd straight day

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks finished mixed Wednesday as the Nasdaq posted losses for a third consecutive day.

The Dow rose 80 points, or 0.24%, to close at 33,482. The S&P 500, on the other hand, lost 10 points, or 0.25% to 4,090.

The Nasdaq fell 129 points, or 1.07%, to finish the session at 11,996.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.4% to 19.08, while the 10-year US Treasury yield shaved 0.8% to 3.309%.

The dollar index added 0.3% to 101.94, while the euro trimmed 0.45% to $1.0902 against the greenback.

Precious metals were mixed, with gold flat at $2,020 per ounce, but silver trimming 0.2% to $24.95.

Oil prices lost around 0.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.77 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $80.37.
