US stocks finish mixed; Nasdaq in positive territory
Oil prices in negative territory, with Brent crude plummeting 3.5% and West Texas Intermediate losing 0.1%

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks closed mixed Wednesday, with the Nasdaq finishing in positive territory.
The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 228 points, or 0.68%, at 33,301. The S&P 500 shed 15 points, or 0.38%, to close at 4,055.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq, on the other hand, rose 55 points, or 0.47%, to end the session at 11,854.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.4% to 18.84. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield added 1.6% to 3452%.
The dollar index shed 0.4% to 101.45, while the euro was mostly unchanged at $1.1039 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in positive territory, with the price of gold adding 0.06% to $1,990 per ounce and silver rising 0.1% to $24.90 an ounce at 6.30 p.m. EDT.
Oil prices, on the other hand, were in negative territory at the time, with the price of global benchmark Brent crude at $77.80 per barrel, plummeting 3.5%, and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude losing 0.1% to $74.29.
