US stocks open higher

All indices post positive figures at Monday open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Major indices on the New York Stock Exchange opened in the positive territory on Monday.

The Dow was up 200 points, or 0.4%, to 33,032.04 points at 9.30 a.m. EDT (1330GMT). The S&P 500 rose 0.64% to 4,134 points.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq increased 1.56% to 12,200 points.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was up 0.38% to 25.17 as of 10.22 a.m. EDT (1422GMT).

The dollar index rose slightly, 0.08%, to 102.24 and the 10-year US Treasury yield gained 1.56% to 3.001.

Precious metals posted mixed figures, with gold down 0.06% to $1,849.05 and silver up 1.01% to $22.13 as of 10.24 a.m. EDT (1424GMT).

Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $119.32, down 0.33%, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $118.38 – a 0.41% decrease.
