US stocks open higher, trying to rebound from previous major losses
Euro jumps 1% to $1.1079 against US dollar

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened higher Wednesday, trying to rebound from the previous day's major losses of over 1%.
The Dow was up 59 points, or 0.18%, to 33,591 at 9.40 a.m. EDT, after the blue-chip index fell 1.02% on Tuesday.
The S&P 500 gained eight points, or 0.2%, to 4,079 after the index lost 1.58% in the previous session.
The Nasdaq climbed 92 points, or 0.79%, to 11,891, after the tech-heavy index plummeted 1.98% the previous day.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.16% to 18.79. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.1% to 3.401%.
The dollar index fell 0.8% to 101.07, while the euro jumped 1% to $1.1079 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold rising 0.3% to $2,003 per ounce and silver adding 0.3% to $25.11.
Oil prices were down more than 1.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $79.42 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $76.05.
